The High Court of London partially satisfied the claim of Anna Pasternak, the great-niece of Russian writer Boris Pasternak, for alleged copyright infringement by American author Lara Prescott.  Pasternak appealed to the London court back in May 2020 in connection with the September 2019 publication of Prescott's book “The Secrets We Kept” in the United States and the United Kingdom. According to Pasternak's testimony, much of the factual selection, the structure of the text was allegedly borrowed from her work “Lara: The Untold Love Story That Inspired Doctor Zhivago”, published in the UK in August 2016. In addition, Pasternak claimed that Prescott had allegedly used an excerpt from an English translation of the book “Legends of Potapovsky Lane” written by a close family friend, Irina Emilyanova, and first published in Russia.
